Local Ministries
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit nondenominational Christian housing organization that builds simple, decent affordable houses in partnership with those in need of shelter. First Christian Church is once again participating with other local churches and Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity in building a house for a deserving and committed family. Because a number of local churches are participating in the financing and construction work this has been popularly referred to as the "Ecumenical House" by our local Habitat organization.

Appalachia Service Project (ASP)
The Appalachia Service Project is a home repair ministry based in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Teams of about seven people, including youth and adults, work with a local family in the area to improve their living conditions. ASP's motto is "Warmer, Safer, Drier." First Christian Church has been participating in ASP since 1996. In the summer of 2006, our work crews included volunteers from Greenleaf Christian Church in Goldsboro, NC. For more information on the Appalachia Service Project, visit the ASP Home website.
